Informationen zur Europawahl

Im Juni wird das Europäische Parlament bzw. dessen Mitglieder neu gewählt. Die Wahl findet logischerweise in der ganzen EU statt und am 9.6. werden die deutschen Vertreter*innen gewählt. Hier gibt es keine Wahlkreise, das Wahlgebiet entspricht aber dem Mitgliedsland, also Deutschland.

 

Wie alt muss man zum Wählen sein?

Bei der Europawahl darf man bereits ab 16 Jahren wählen. Dies liegt daran, dass das Wahlalter von der Bundesregierung 2022 von 18 auf 16 Jahre herabgesetzt wurde.

 

Dürfen nur deutsche Staatsbürger*innen wählen?

Zur Europawahl dürfen alle Menschen mit Staatsbürgerschaft eines EU-Landes wählen. Ebenfalls müsst ihr seit mindestens 3 Monaten in Deutschland gemeldet sein oder euch in einem anderen EU-Land. Ebenfalls müsst ihr ins Wählerverzeichnis eingetragen sein. Dies gilt aber eher für Menschen mit nicht deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit

Kann ich Briefwahl beantragen?

Ja, den Antrag zur Briefwahl könnt ihr bis spätestens 7.6. bei der Stadt stellen. Die ausgefüllten Wahlunterlagen müssen bis zum 9.6. 18.00 Uhr wieder im Rathaus sein, um ausgezählt zu werden.

 

Was brauche ich zum Wählen?

Anfang Mai solltet ihr eure Wahlbenachrichtigung bekommen, in der steht in welchem Wahllokal ihr wählen könnt. Die braucht ihr am Wahltag auf jeden Fall. Bewahrt die deshalb gut auf! Ansonsten müsst ihr noch euren Personalausweis mitnehmen. Ansonsten erscheint einfach bis 18 Uhr in eurem Wahllokal und wählt mit. Falls ihr Angst habt das zu vergessen: Macht Briefwahl :)

Wie viele Stimmen habe ich?

Zur Europawahl hast du eine Stimme, mit der du eine Partei wählst. Diese Partei tritt zwar nur in Deutschland an, aber hat sich mit ihren ähnlichen Parteien in Europa zu sogenannten zusammengeschlossen und treten europaweit an.

Für eine gute Wahlentscheidung braucht es aber selbstverständlich eine gute Auseinandersetzung mit den Wahlinhalten. Mit diversen Aktionen auf dem Campus, sowie auf unseren Social-Media-Kanälen halten wir euch in der nächsten Zeit auf dem Laufenden. Schaut doch mal vorbei.

The European Parliament and its members will be newly elected in June. Logically, the election takes place throughout the EU and the German representatives will be elected on 9 June. There are no constituencies here, but the electoral area corresponds to the member state, i.e. Germany.

 

How old do you have to be to vote?

You can vote in the European elections from the age of 16. This is because the voting age was lowered from 18 to 16 by the German government in 2022.

 

Are only German citizens allowed to vote?

Anyone who is a citizen of an EU country can vote in the European elections. You must also have been registered in Germany for at least 3 months or live in another EU country. You must also be registered on the electoral roll. However, this applies more to people with non-German citizenship

Can I apply for a postal vote?

Yes, you can apply to the city for postal voting by 7 June at the latest. The completed election documents must be returned to the town hall by 6.00 pm on 9 June in order to be counted.

 

What do I need to vote?

You should receive your polling card at the beginning of May, which will tell you which polling station you can vote in. You will definitely need this on election day. So keep it safe! You will also need to take your identity card with you. Otherwise, simply turn up at your polling station by 6 pm and vote. If you are afraid of forgetting: Vote by post :)

 

How many votes do I have?

In the European elections, you have one vote to choose a party. Although this party is only running in Germany, it has joined forces with similar parties in Europe to form so-called parties and is competing across Europe.
